Chronicle Books has hired Leigh Haber as an editor-at-large. Haber, former v-p and executive editor at Rodale, is currently a consultant for such companies as Blurb and Reboot Media. In her new role, she will be responsible for acquiring and developing at least five books a year, primarily focusing on wellness topics for Chronicle's lifestyle category. Based in New Jersey, she started working with the company on May 18, and will attend BEA on behalf of Chronicle.

Job Moves: May 18, 2010
Media Source Inc, the parent company of Junior Library Guild, School Library Journal, Library Journal, and The Horn Book, has made a number of additions and changes to its senior management team. Ron Shank, who joined Media Source earlier this year with the company's acquisition of SLJ and LJ, was named publisher of The Horn Book, Inc. This adds to Shank's existing responsibilities as publisher of School Library Journal and Library Journal. To oversee its content licensing business, Media Source has hired Ian Singer as v-p of content and business development. In this newly-created position, Singer, who was most recently v-p of data services for Bowker, will manage the company's content licensing businesses. And Andrew Thorne was named Media Source's v-p of marketing.

New Executive Structure at 'PW'
George Slowik Jr., who acquired Publishers Weekly last month from Reed Business Information, has named four veterans of the magazine as corporate officers. Publisher Cevin Bryerman, co-editorial directors Jim Milliot and Michael Coffey, and children's book editor Diane Roback will serve as vice-presidents in PWxyz, the entity that now owns PW, PublishersWeekly.com, and the BEA, London, and Frankfurt Show Dailies. "I am relying on their expertise, experience, and astounding commitment to the future of this franchise that they've all been part of for many years," said Slowik of the appointees. "Now they are empowered and enabled to act on their ideas, and they have made it very clear to me that it won't be business as usual."

At Vintage/Anchor Sloane Crosley has been promoted to deputy director of publicity. Crosley joined Vintage/Anchor in 2002, coming from HarperCollins. Kate Runde has also been promoted at Vintage/Anchor from senior publicist to associate director of publicity. And Dan Ozzi has joined the imprint as senior publicist; he was most recently at Public Affairs.

Memorial Set for Nina Bourne
Knopf is holding a memorial for longtime advertising director Nina Bourne on Wednesday, May 19, at 4:00 PM at the New York Society for Ethical Culture (2 W. 64th St., New York, NY). The memorial is open to the public. Bourne died last month at the age of 93. She was best known for the advertising campaigns she created for such works as Catch-22 and the Eloise books.

Emilia Rhodes has been promoted to assistant editor at Simon Pulse, from editorial assistant. Kate Angelella has been promoted to associate editor at Aladdin; she was previously assistant editor. Alyson Heller has been promoted to assistant editor at Aladdin, from editorial assistant. Teresa Brumm has been promoted to national accounts manager; she had been assistant national accounts manager. And Taryn Rosada has been promoted to associate publicist, from publicity assistant.

Liz Johnson, former publicist at WaterBrook Multnomah, has been hired as marketing specialist at Thomas Nelson for the Max Lucado Branding Team. In her new role, she will work on marketing Lucado's next book, Outlive Your Life: You Were Made to Make a Difference, out in September. Johnson is also a novelist. Steeple Hill will publish her next novel, Vanishing Act, in August.

Shear Named Publisher of St. Martin's
Matthew Shear has been named executive v-p and publisher of St. Martin's Press. He will continue to report to SMP president and publisher Sally Richardson and will extend his oversight to all of SMP's list, including hardcover. Shear told PW he and Richardson will serve as "co-publishers" for SMP.

Dan Coakley has been named national sales manager at Mason Crest Publishers. Mason Crest is an educational publisher focused on upper elementary and young adult books. Coakley was, most recently, national sales manager at Rosen Classroom.
Serena Jones has been named editor at Times Books. Jones was at the Collins division of HarperCollins and, before that, at Simon & Schuster. She has worked with such authors as Jimmy Carter, Walter Isaacson, and David Rieff.

At Scholastic Stacy Lellos has been promoted from director of brand development and strategic planning to v-p of trade marketing. She joined Scholastic in 2000 and has held a variety of positions in brand and retail marketing and licensed publishing. Rachel Coun has also been promoted from director of hardcover marketing to executive director of hardcover marketing. Coun has worked for Scholastic for more than 15 years. Also, Nick Eliopulos has joined Scholastic trade as editor. Eliopulos was at Random House Children's Books.

Moran Leaving Chronicle for Albert Whitman & Company
PW has learned that Josalyn Moran is leaving her post as children's publishing director at Chronicle after just one year, for a new job as v-p, publishing at Albert Whitman & Company. Her last day at Chronicle will be May 21, and she will start at Whitman on May 24.

Courtney Young has been promoted to editor for the Portfolio, Sentinel, and Current imprints at Penguin. Young joined Portfolio as an editorial assistant in 2006, after a two-year stint as a technical writer for NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Todd Martinez has been named sales & marketing coordinator at Image Comics. Martinez has been the manager of the store Comic Relief--winner of one of the first three Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Awards--in Berkeley, Calif., for the last 14 years.

Job Moves: Wednesday, May 5
Margaret Rennolds Chace has joined Skira Rizzoli as associate publisher. Chace, who will start at Rizzoli on May 11, was most recently managing editor of publications at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Before the Met, Chace was v-p and managing editor of Harry N. Abrams. Skira Rizzoli is Rizzoli's museum-focused imprint, which launched in fall 2009.
Julie Bosman has been tapped to succeed Motoko Rich as the reporter covering the book publishing beat at the New York Times. The paper announced in early April that Rich would be moving to a different section. Bosman has predominantly covered politics at the Times.
