Blair Revives ‘New Stories From the South’

North Carolina–based small press Blair has announced the revival of New Stories from the South, an annual short story anthology that collects works of fiction by Southern writers or about the Southern U.S. Blair editorial director Robin Miura will edit the series, whose initial volume is slated to launch in fall 2026.

The selection of stories in the anthology will begin with publications nominating qualifying stories to Blair. The “Best of 2026” volume will include stories published in the 2025 calendar year, and will feature a foreword by Appalachian writer Silas House.

New Stories from the South was originally published by Algonquin Books from 1986 through 2010. Shannon Ravenel launched the series and edited the volumes through 2006.
