PKPR Launches Nonfiction PR Division
New York–based PR agency PKPR has announced the launch of a new book publicity division dedicated to serving nonfiction authors. The division will be helmed by Helena Dea Bala, partner at PKPR and author of Craigslist Confessional. She is joined by Alyssa Cuevas, who came to PKPR earlier this year from Hachette, where she worked as a marketing and publicity assistant for nonfiction and children’s titles.
The new division will offer publicity services designed to “drive book sales, elevate author profiles, and establish thought leadership,” per a press release. Since 2006, PKPR has represented such literary institutions as the Moth, Brooklyn Public Library, Dayton Literary Peace Prize, Fine Arts Work Center, Writers Guild Awards, and Albertine Books.
“The process of getting my nonfiction book published with a Big Five publisher—and during the pandemic, at that!—taught me how crucial it is to have a publicity partner who truly understands an author’s voice and vision,” Bala said in a statement. “Between my firsthand experience navigating the publishing world and Alyssa’s time inside a Big Five publisher, our goal is to bridge the gap between art and strategy.”
