St. Martin’s Brings On Sounds True Team
St. Martin's Publishing Group, a division of Macmillan, has hired three former Sounds True staffers to the St. Martin's Essentials Imprint after acquiring the mind-body-spirit publisher's catalogs last month. The new hires include associate publisher Jaime Schwalb, formerly publisher at Sounds True; executive editor Sarah Stanton, formerly editorial director at Sounds True; and associate editor Sahar Al-Nima, who held the same position at Sounds True.
Accompanying the job moves, St. Martin's Essentials founder Joel Fotinos has been promoted from editorial director to publishing director of the imprint. St. Martin's Essentials will oversee the publishing of Sound True's print and e-book catalogs while continuing to publish a wide range of lifestyle titles, Fontinos said.
Schwalb comes to St. Martin's after 17 years at Sounds True, where she oversaw all marketing, publicity, sales, and publishing operations. At St. Martin's, she will support the Essentials list, including all of Sounds True's books and authors.
Stanton, who was at Sounds True for just under four years, will be acquiring across the Essentials list, including psychology, personal development, and religion and spirituality, with a special interest in projects that consider not only individual but also collective wellbeing. Al-Nima, also a four-year veteran of Sounds True, will provide support to Stanton and the editorial department.
