CSHL Press Names David Crotty as Executive Director
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has named David Crotty executive director of its publishing house, CSHL Press, effective December 1. Crotty takes over for John Inglis, who founded the modern-day incarnation of CSHL Press in 1987.
“CSHL Press has historically taken a leadership role in scholarly communication, from publishing the first molecular biology lab manual to the ongoing preprint revolution,” Crotty said in a statement. “John leaves enormous shoes to fill, but I am excited and honored by the opportunity to build on the Press’ successes and reputation for innovation, and to position it to thrive in the future.”
From 2001-2011, Crotty served as executive editor at CSHL Press, which has over 200 titles in print. Most recently, Crotty served as a senior consultant at the boutique firm Clarke & Esposito. Before that, he served as both senior editor and editorial director of journals policy at Oxford University Press for ten years.
