‘Alderbrink’ Spotlights Fine Press Books
Adam Morgan has launched Alderbrink, a new online magazine dedicated solely to fine press books, featuring hands-on reviews and news. The publication is named after Alderbrink Press, a defunct Chicago fine press founded by Ralph Fletcher Seymour in 1897 and headquartered in the city’s Fine Arts Building.
The magazine’s reviews are based on “careful, in-person inspections and deep research,” according to Morgan. Book design, production materials, and binding processes are taken into consideration alongside visual design and literary merit, all of which are ranked on a five-star rating system composed of five different categories, including slipcase, cover and spine, and illustrations.
Aside from Alderbrink, Morgan also founded the Chicago Review of Books nearly a decade ago.
