Town Hall to Host Haruki Murakami

Haruki Murakami will receive the 2025 Japan Society Award and deliver in-person opening remarks at Manhattan’s Town Hall on December 11 at 7 p.m.

The just-announced event, “Murakami Mixtape: An Evening of Music and Spoken Word In Celebration of Acclaimed Author Haruki Murakami,” will celebrate “the integral connection between music and the life and works” of Murakami with a jazz performance by Jason Moran and remarks from two of Murakami’s closest friends, Motoyuki Shibata and Roland Kelts, per a press release.

The event is a joint venture between Town Hall and New York’s Japan Society, with support from the Center for Fiction.

Tickets are now available for Town Hall and Japan Society members in a special pre-sale and launch for the general public on September 26.
