Kate Medina to Receive BIO’s Editorial Excellence Award
Biographers International Organization has announced that publishing veteran Kate Medina is the 2025 recipient of its Editorial Excellence Award. Established in 2014, the annual award honors an editor for outstanding work in the service of biography and literature. Medina will be presented with the award on October 7 at the New York Society Library in Manhattan.
Medina spent nearly four decades at Random House, retiring from her position as EVP, associate publisher, and executive editorial director at the imprint earlier this year. At Random House, she edited such authors as E.L. Doctorow, Tracy Kidder, Jon Meacham, and Isabel Wilkerson.
Medina was also announced as the recipient of the Center for Fiction’s 2025 Medal for Editorial Excellence in June, and will receive the honor at the Center’s annual awards benefit in Manhattan on December 9.
