Lauren Wein Promoted to EIC at Avid Reader
Lauren Wein, Avid Reader’s longtime VP and editorial director, has been promoted to VP and editor-in-chief, coinciding with the six year anniversary of the Simon & Schuster imprint later this month. Wein takes over from former editor-in-chief and current Avid Reader VP and copublisher Ben Loehnen.
In an announcement of the promotion, VP and copublisher Jofie Ferrari-Adler noted that Wein has played an “essential role in launching, defining, steering, and growing” Avid Reader, overseeing its fiction program since its founding. Throughout her time at the imprint, Wein has published two Reese’s Book Club selections, Group by Christie Tate and Infinite Country by Patricia Engel; as well as the novels Julia May Jonas’s Vladimir and Yael van der Wouden’s The Safekeep, among others.
In her new role, Wein will continue to oversee and grow the imprint’s fiction program.
