Daniel Gumnit Appointed Executive Director, CEO of Little Free Library
Daniel Gumnit has been named executive director and CEO at the St. Paul, Minn.–based nonprofit Little Free Library. He succeeds executive director Greig Metzger, who retired this month.
Gumnit previously held a number of executive roles at such nonprofit organizations as People Serving People, Twin Cities PBS National Productions, Children’s Cancer Research Fund, and, most recently, Minnesota Alliance with Youth.
"As we build on this momentum, I look forward to working with our exceptional team and visionary partners to expand our reach and deepen our impact. And I eagerly anticipate getting out into communities to further LFL’s vital mission,” Gumnit said in a statment. “Our work—providing 24/7 book access; granting Little Free Libraries to underserved urban, rural, and Indigenous communities; and championing diverse books—has never been more urgent."
Since 2009, LFL has expanded book access through a global network of volunteer-led book-sharing boxes. Gumnit’s appointment comes shortly after LFL celebrated a major milestone: 200,000 Little Free Library book-sharing boxes have now been installed worldwide.
