Hachette India Names Riti Jagoorie as Next Managing Director

Hachette India has appointed Riti Jagoorie as managing director, replacing retiring founder Thomas Abraham, who led the company for 18 years. Under Abraham's leadership, the company has grown to become the third largest trade publisher in India, publishing a wide range of authors, including Roopa Pai, Anuradha Roy, Manjula Padmanabhan, cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, chess champion Viswanathan Anand, chefs Manish Mehrotra and Ritu Dalmia, and business author Subroto Bagchi.

Jagoorie will assume the role in January 2026 and will become the first women to lead one of India's multinational publishing houses. She first joined the company in 2008, as one of the company's first employees. She most recently served as the VP of product and marketing.
