GrubStreet Founder Eve Bridburg to Step Down

GrubStreet founder and executive director Eve Bridburg has announced plans to step down after nearly three decades of leadership. GrubStreet, an independent creative writing center in Boston’s Seaport neighborhood, was founded by Bridburg in 1997 and has served more than 58,000 adult students and 8,000 teens, awarded more than 4,000 scholarships, and paid over $10.5 million to working writers. The center also hosts year-long novel and memoir incubators, helping writers publish their work, including nearly 2,000 student publications in the past five years.

”I founded GrubStreet nearly 30 years ago with a vision of putting excellent writing education within reach of anyone with a desire to write,” Bridburg said in a statement. “We have grown and flourished beyond my wildest expectations.”

GrubStreet’s board will launch a national search for a new executive director, though Bridburg will continue to serve as an advisor and advocate for the center after this year.
