Bob Marsh Named President of Globe Pequot
The Globe Pequot Publishing Group has promoted its longtime chief operating officer, Bob Marsh, to president.
In his new role, Marsh succeeds Jed Lyons, who will remain chairman and CEO, while Judith Schnell will continue as publisher.
Marsh’s appointment comes less than a year after Globe Pequot’s parent company, Rowman & Littlefield, sold its academic publishing division to Bloomsbury. “With the sale of R&L to Bloomsbury last year and the refocusing of our business as a standalone trade publisher, the time is right to pass the baton to Bob who has earned the respect and admiration of all of us at Globe Pequot,” said Lyons in a statement.
In addition to the sale of R&L, Globe Pequot will migrate its sales and distribution from its sister company, NBN, to Simon & Schuster effective September 1. Most NBN clients are also making the move to S&S during the course of the next nine months. NBN will continue to provide sales and distribution services to its clients until all of them are settled in a new relationship.
Earlier this month, Globe Pequot agreed to acquire nature guide publisher Waterford Press from its cofounder, Jill Kavanaugh, in a deal set to close April 1. Lyons said he hopes to find other independent publishers to purchase in the years ahead.
