Binc Awards ComicsPRO Scholarships to Four Comics Retailers
The Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation has awarded $750 scholarships to four comics retailers for the ComicsPRO industry meeting in Glendale, Calif., held February 20-22.
Erik Jones of Four Color Fantasies in Winchester, Va.; Andrea Gilroy of Books with Pictures, Portland, Ore.; and Zacharie Lasiter and Shannon Merritt of 901 Comics in Memphis, Tenn., were awarded the scholarships. They can use the funds for travel, replacement wages, lodging and meals; ComicsPRO will cover the registration fee for the meeting.
“We are pleased to continue our support for comic retailers with these scholarships,” said Binc’s Executive Director Pam French. “When we learned there would not be a Diamond Summit this year, we decided to redirect those scholarship funds and award four scholarships for ComicsPRO. We look forward to meeting them in California.”
ComicsPRO is the only trade organization for direct-market comic book retailers. The organization’s industry conference is a chance for ALL store-front comic retailers (members and non-members) to meet with comic publishers and distributors and other pop culture wholesalers.
