B&N Revamps Buying, Campaign Teams
In a letter sent to publishers earlier this week, Barnes & Noble detailed changes made to its buying and campaign teams. As part of the streamlining program, an unspecified number of jobs were eliminated. The new structure, summarized below, was outlined by Shannon DeVito, senior director for books:
- Shannon DeVito will head up the campaign team, with Stephanie Pinheiro as campaign manager for kids & YA, Lexie Smyth for fiction and mystery (including thriller and horror), Jules Herbert for genre fiction (comprising romance, science fiction, fantasy, graphic novels, and manga), and Kat Sarfas for all of nonfiction.
- Christine Mueller will continue to lead frontlist buying, and Bridgett Strawbrich and Brenda Allison have been added to the team
- The backlist team responsibilities are set to “be refined shortly”
- Lindsay Bogard will assume a new role as associate director of publisher strategy, working directly with publishers on sales targets and business goals
- Allyson Gavaletz will become publisher liaison manager and will be publishers’ key contact at B&N
The moves follow the departure of Jackie De Leo, chief merchandising officer, earlier this month.
