Samantha Smith Joins LB as VP, Publisher for James Patterson

Samantha Smith will succeed Ned Rust as VP and publisher for James Patterson at Little, Brown and Company. Rust is departing Little, Brown after more than 20 years to pursue other opportunities.
Smith joins Little, Brown on February 3 from Pan Macmillan, where she most recently served as publisher of fiction, nonfiction, and picture books at Macmillan Children's Books. An American who has worked in U.K. publishing for almost 20 years, she has launched two imprints, including the YA crossover list First Ink, and was shortlisted for Editor of the Year at the 2022 British Book Awards. At Pan Macmillan, she published such brands at The Hunger Games and Twilight.
At Little, Brown, Smith will report to president and publisher Sally Kim.
