Jeannette Seaver Leaves Arcade, Hangs Own Shingle
Jeannette Seaver is stepping away from her longtime role as publisher and editor of Arcade Publishing and forming an independent editorial firm, Seaver Editorial Consulting.
Seaver cofounded Arcade with her husband, editor and publisher Richard Seaver, in 1989, with Skyhorse Publishing acquiring its backlist—known for works by such international literary stars as Simone de Beauvoir, Samuel Beckett, Natalia Ginzburg, Octavio Paz, and Jean-Paul Sartre—in 2009, after Richard Seaver’s sudden death. For Arcade, Seaver acquired Woody Allen’s memoir, Apropos of Nothing, in 2000 after it was dropped by Grand Central Publishing following protests by Hachette Book Group employees.
“Leaving Arcade is bittersweet,” Jeannette said, in a statement. “Yet I am proud of the legacy of titles Dick and I built at Arcade and have cherished my association with Skyhorse. I look forward to this new chapter to support writers who seek an old school editorial relationship and shepherding new work to the public.”
