Ingram Content Group has expanded MediaScout, its film and television rights discovery service, to the United Kingdom and Europe, adding regional pricing in British pounds and euros.

MediaScout launched in March as a database connecting film and television professionals with books available for screen adaptation. The service was developed by Ingram in partnership with BCG X, the technology unit of Boston Consulting Group, following consultation with media and entertainment industry leaders. The platform allows media professionals to search across a database of 2.4 million book titles for rights information.

The service targets two primary user groups: publishers seeking to increase visibility for potential adaptations, and studios or production companies looking for source material. Publishers can use the platform to manage rights information and track availability, while entertainment companies gain access to consolidated title and rights data. It covers books from independent authors alongside established publishers, and the platform positions itself as a cost-effective alternative to working, presumably, through agents and other intermediaries.

"We're eager to bring MediaScout to new customers across the U.K. and Europe," Margaret Harrison, VP of digital services at Ingram Content Group, said. "This expansion reflects our commitment to innovation and to serving our growing worldwide user base with localized content, including thousands of books from U.K.-based and European authors and publishers."

Harrison noted that interest in books from abroad has already begun, with a major studio enquiring after rights for a title from Boldwood Books, a U.K. independent publisher. "Interest from major studios and production companies is growing," Harrison said. "We can't wait to see the first MediaScout success story hit the big screen."
