Jaime Leifer has been named publishing director of Bloomsbury US’s adult trade division. Leifer will join the company April 13 and report to Sabrina McCarthy, president of Bloomsbury US.
At Bloomsbury, Leifer will oversee the adult literary fiction list alongside the division’s nonfiction list, which the publisher hopes to expand. Leifer has held a number of notable editorial positions in the industry and was most recently publisher of Columbia Global Reports, a nonprofit publishing imprint at Columbia University. Prior to that she worked at Hachette Book Group as VP and associate publisher first for PublicAffairs, and then for Basic Books.
Leifer replaces Nancy Miller, who stepped down from the role January 1 to become executive editor and will now report to Leifer. Also reporting to Leifer will be editorial director of fiction and memoir, Callie Garnett, and editorial director of nonfiction, Colleen Lawrie. Managing editorial director Laura Phillips and acting creative director Sara Wood will also report to Leifer.
"I can't wait to work with the fantastic team to identify great new voices in fiction and nonfiction and continue to publish Bloomsbury's authors brilliantly,” Leifer said of her new role.
“Jaime is an astute publisher with decades of experience working side by side with authors to make their books a success,” said McCarthy in a statement. “Her creativity, financial acumen, intelligence and determination are the perfect combination to drive the next phase of growth for Bloomsbury’s successful adult trade division.”
