After the recent news that Carrie Kania was leaving her pop culture imprint at HarperCollins, It Books, to become an agent, Mauro DiPreta has made it public that he is also leaving the imprint. DiPreta, who was v-p and associate publisher of It Books, is joining Random House's Crown Archetype imprint as editor-in-chief. Following Kania's announcemenet, Cal Morgan was named to head It Books.

DiPreta will report to Tina Constable and will oversee all the imprints that fall under what RH calls Crown's "branded/category publishing," which includes, in addition to Archetype, Harmony Books, Crown Business and Crown Forum. DiPreta, who will be acquiring for Archetype, will also work with Constable on strategy for the aforementioned imprints. He starts September 7.

Also joining Crown, as a senior editor in the trade paperbacks division, is Amanda Patten. Patten arrives from Simon & Schuster's Touchstone Fireside imprint and, at Crown, will be handling paperback conversions and "backlist development" for Three Rivers Press, Crown Business, and Crown Forum. She will also be acquiring titles in the pop culture, humor, and practical nonfiction categories.
