Book Industry Study Group executive director Scott Lubeck has resigned his position, and will return to his home in Austin, Tex. to open a new office for the recruiting firm Bert Davis & Associates. BISG deputy executive director Angela Bole will carry out the executive director’s duties on an interim basis and a search committee has been formed to identify candidates for the position.
In a prepared statement Lubeck said, “I have appreciated the opportunity to serve this important organization and to work with its executive committee, board, membership and staff. It has truly been an honor." Lubeck told PW that in addition to opening an Austin office he will serve as president of a new consulting division. "It is singular opportunity to enable the transformation of the industry by bringing the right talent into the right places at the right time," Lubeck said.
Dominique Raccah, chair of BISG and CEO of Sourcebooks, thanked Lubeck for his tenure at BISG. “On behalf of the BISG board and the executive committee, I wish Scott well in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions, which have benefited BISG tremendously.”
Kenneth Michaels, vice chair of BISG and COO of the Hachette Book Group, said BISG has hired Bert Davis to manage the search for a new executive director. "The search committee is seeking a candidate who will expand and enhance the resources BISG provides. The book industry looks to BISG for leadership, innovation and vision in a changing marketplace, and we look forward to identifying a candidate who embodies those qualities,” Michaels said.
