Random House Publishing Group president Gina Centrello has appointed Scott Shannon to the newly created position of senior v-p, publisher, digital content for Little Random. Most recently publisher of Ballantine Bantam Dell Mass Market, Shannon will now oversee the day-to-day digital-publishing decision-making for the group. With his promotion, Libby McGuire, senior v-p for BBD, will assume direct responsibility for Random’s mass market paperback list. Shannon remains publisher of Del Rey/Spectra.
According to Centrello’s memo announcing the changes, Shannon will focus on content for RH’s e-book originals, enhanced e-books, and apps from either the company’s own content or content created independently. Shannon will be “positioned to originate and commission many [digital] projects as well as coordinate and advance those initiated by colleagues—always in close and constant collaboration with out imprints’ publishers and editors,” Centrello wrote.
Matt Schwartz, v-p, director, digital marketing strategy and product development, will be now report to Shannon.
