Aileen Boyle has been hired as associate publisher at David Rosenthal's Penguin imprint. Boyle, who will start on July 1, became a publishing consultant after leaving her post as v-p and associate publisher at Simon & Schuster's flagship imprint, which Rosenthal ran before being replaced by Jonathan Karp.
In her new job Boyle will work on sales, marketing, and publicity as well as have a hand in, according to Penguin, "shaping the imprint's overall strategy." Before S&S, Boyle was at HarperCollins; she started her publishing career in 1991, working in publicity at Berkley. She's worked on campaigns for, among others, Hillary Clinton, Mary Higgins Clark and David McCullough. She also created the Speaker's Bureau when she was at S&S.
