F+W Media, Inc. has appointed Alison Norrington as chairperson of the company’s upcoming transmedia event, the StoryWorld Conference + EXPO. The conference, under the umbrella of the company’s Digital Book World Conference + EXPO, will take place from October 31 to November 2 in San Francisco. Norrington is an English transmedia storyteller and producer, novelist, playwright, and journalist.
At Kaplan Publishing a number of new hires and promotions: Allison Risko has been hired as senior v-p of content management and strategy. Risko was senior v-p of learning services for Kaplan EduNeering. Frank Rubino has been hired as executive director of technology and user experience. Edwina Lui has been promoted to director of content management and strategy. Babette Ross has joined the company as marketing director, after working as a consultant. And Shayna Webb was promoted to associate director of digital operations.
