Larry Hughes is joining Free Press as associate director of publicity, reporting to Carisa Hays. Hughes, who has worked at various houses including HarperCollins and Penguin (for their NAL imprint), was most recently an independent consultant. Hughes has also blogged for the Huffington Post and writes the personal blogs Classics Rock! and Book Flack at Large. In addition to promoting his own list of books, he will be responsible for the imprint's online publicity efforts.
Denise Roy has been promoted to senior editor at Plume and senior editor at Dutton. Roy has been at Penguin since 2009 after spending 15 years at Simon & Schuster and has worked with such authors as Marianne Wiggins, Jennifer Chiaverini, and Megan Abbott.
