Borders has hired former Barnes & Noble.com digital content director Mike Ferrari as merchandising director of trade books. Ferrari will oversee mystery/thriller, fiction, romance, science fiction, graphic novels, sports, local titles, business, computers, literary fiction, poetry, performing arts, and Spanish-language books. He will report to Larry Norton, svp of merchandising for adult trade and children’s.
At Barnes & Noble.com, Ferrari was responsible for acquiring digital content for the company’s e-book division, negotiating contracts, developing systems requirements, and creating pricing and financial models. Before taking that position, he was director of merchandising on the corporate side. Ferrari also worked at Walden Book Company, Inc.
