Jim King, who helped build the Nielsen BookScan service and is currently senior v-p and general manager, will leave the company Aug. 21. According to the Nielsen release, King is leaving "to pursue new opportunities." King has been with BookScan since 2000 and was one of the key figures in establishing the service which measures about 70% of U.S. retail saleas and has over 300 subscribers. Jonathan Nowell, president of Nielsen Book, said a replacement for King will be announced shortly.
