Margot Stamas has been hired as publicist; she was previously at Putnam and Riverhead. Christy D'Agostini has been promoted to senior publicist. Jacquelynn Burke has been promoted to publicist.
Publicity firm Media Connect (formerly Planned Television Arts) has two new staff members: Steve Matteo arrives as a publicity manager. He worked for nearly 11 years as the publicity manager for Barron's. In addition, the company is joined by associate publicist Nicole Martineau in the Washington, DC office.

News Corp. confirmed Monday morning that Robert Thomson, Dow Jones editor-in-chief and managing editor of The Wall Street Journal since 2008, will become the CEO of the new publishing entity that News Corp. is spinning off from its entertainment assets next year.
