  • Stuart Applebaum to Retire from Penguin Random House

    In his 52-year career, Applebaum has served as publicity assistant, book publicist, Bantam publicity and public relations director, company spokesperson, chief communications officer, VP, SVP, and EVP. He will retire at the end of September.

  • Tim O'Connell Takes the Reins at Saga Press

    O’Connell comes to Saga from the flagship Simon & Schuster imprint, for which he will continue to acquire literary fiction and select nonfiction. Joe Monti, who founded Saga in 2015, has been promoted to VP, associate publisher, and editorial director.

  • HarperCollins Moves Harper Wave to Morrow Group; Diana Baroni to Lead Harvest, Wave

    On October 7, Baroni will move from Harmony Books and Rodale Books at Penguin Random House to lead Harvest and Harper Wave, both now housed under the Morrow Group, as SVP and publisher.

  • Lee Jarit Named Global Head of Publisher and Partner Relations at Audible

    Jarit has been promoted from head of Audiobook Creation Exchange and North America publisher partnerships, and will oversee the audio company’s global acquisitions strategy.

  • Sean Manning Promoted to Publisher of Simon & Schuster Imprint

    Manning joined S&S's flagship imprint in 2016 and was named VP and executive editor in 2022. He succeeds S&S CEO Jonathan Karp, who has held down the role since the 2022 departure of Dana Canedy.

    Former IDW editor-in-chief Jamie Rich and former Boom! president Filip Sablik have joined a new, as-yet-unnamed comic book and graphic novel publisher formed by film and television producer Eric Gitter.

    The longtime president and publisher of Penguin Random House Audio Group in the U.S. will join the company’s global executive committee and add its global audiobook program to her purview.

    Priddle will depart PublicAffairs, as well as its Bold Type Books imprint, which he also oversees, next month. He joined PublicAffairs in 2003 and has served as its publisher since 2012.

  • Leigh Marchant Joins HBG as Chief Marketing Officer

    Marchant, who was previously director of marketing, strategy, and engagement at the Random House Group, will join Hachette Book Group on September 23. She succeeds Wibke Grutjen, who departed HBG this month to join Simon & Schuster.

  • Gabrielle Gambrell to Succeed Sophie Cottrell as Head of HBG Comms

    Cottrell, the longtime SVP of communications at Hachette Book Group, will depart the company at the end of August and be succeeded by Gambrell, who previously headed up communications at Amazon.

  • Kim Shannon Joins S&S as SVP of Sales

    Shannon comes to Simon & Schuster from Penguin Random House’s the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group. She succeeds the late Gary Urda, who died suddenly on June 24.

  • Christine Gillespie Joins Open Road as SVP, Publisher

    The former SVP and publishing director at Knopf will oversee the Open Road publishing team, effective immediately. She succeeds Mara Anastas, who will step into the new role of VP of special projects.

  • Deb Futter Adds Flatiron to Purview, with Megan Lynch Up as Bob Miller Exits Macmillan

    The president and publisher of Celadon Books has taken on that same role at Macmillan’s Flatiron imprint, where founder Bob Miller will depart after 11 years. EVP and publisher Megan Lynch assumes oversight of day-to-day operations.

  • Words Without Borders Appoints Elisabeth Jaquette Executive Director

    The Arabic-language translator and current head of the American Literary Translators Association will succeed Karen M. Phillips at the top of the literary arts organization and its English-language magazine of translated literature on September 1.
