Whitaker House, the 50-year-old Christian publishing ministry arm of the Whitaker Corp. based in New Kensington, Pa., has acquired Million Praying Moms. Founded by Brooke McGlothlin, MPM offers resources for mothers including a podcast, print books, e-books, and courses on prayer. Whitaker House currently partners with MPM on its Everyday Prayers book line. In a statement, Whitaker publisher Christine Whitaker praised MPM's mission of building "a community of prayer" for parents.
As part of the sale, McGlothlin announced she would be stepping down from the decade-old ministry that she said in a statement "has helped thousands of moms make prayer a priority for their families, teaching them that it is not a last resort, but the first and best response to the challenges of motherhood."
Leading MPM as it joins Whitker will be Nicolet Bell, CEO of JourneyWise, a Christian content site for books and courses in applied theology. Bell said she was excited by the new role and partnership, calling MPM "a great fit with the mission and vision of Whitaker House.”
Whitaker House has made select acquisitions throughout its history. In 2018 is bought Smart Kidz Books, which added more than 100 children's titles to its list.
