Diana Kennedy was one of many cookbook author who participated in the 2010 Texas Book Festival October 16 and 17 in Austin. Texas Monthly food editor Pat Sharpe interviewed Kennedy about her latest book, Oaxaca al Gusto: An Infinite Gastronomy (Univ. of Texas Press).
Borders Starts Cooking Blog
Borders launched its new cookbooks blog, Borders Kitchen, on October 12. The chain's cookbook buyer, Suzanne Farr, wrote the first pan, on a February 2011 book from Weldon Owen that concerns ebelskivers (Danish-style pancakes). Subsequent posts have come from Farr's colleague, Matt Nelson, on Steven Raichlen's new book.
Colicchio Celebrates New Beard Book
Susan Ungaro, president of the James Beard Foundation, and chef Tom Colicchio, host of Bravo’s Top Chef and author of the foreword to James Beard’s American Cookery, which is out today from Little, Brown, were both in attendance at a media luncheon for the book at the James Beard House October 19.
Clarkson Potter Buys Two Books from Peacock
Scott Peacock, James Beard Award winner for Best Chef Southeast 2007 and former head chef of Watershed in Decatur, GA, signed a two-book deal with Clarkson Potter last week. The first book, slated for fall 2012, will be a memoir in which Peacock will recount the days of his friendship with chef and author Edna Lewis, tentatively titled An Uncommon Friendship. The second book, slated for fall 2013, will be a cookbook focusing on a return to Peacock’s Alabama roots, tentatively titled Scott Peacock’s Alabama Kitchen.
