    The New Atlantic Independent Booksellers Association and the Southern Independent Booksellers Association are moving their fall conference, New Voices New Rooms, to summer and have scheduled it for the week of August 8. In addition, they are launching a spring book event scheduled for May 17 and 18. Both events will be virtual.

  • Print Book Sales Fell 3% Last Week

    Weak nonfiction sales dragged down total unit sales of print books last week, with total sales dropping 3% compared to the week ended January 16, 2021, at outlets that report to BookScan.

  • Sales Jumped 20% at Half Price Books in 2021

    In 2021, chain-wide sales at Half Price Books were up 20% over 2020. The company now runs 124 stores in 19 states. Employees have unionized at four different stores in Minnesota.

  • Bookstore Sales Jumped in November

    Bookstore sales were $709 million in November, up 43% from November 2020, according to preliminary estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
