Science fiction and fantasy publisher Aethon Books has signed a translation and distribution agreement with Media Goat to release a number of its titles in South Korea.
Under the partnership, Media Goat, a publisher specializing in translating and distributing western genre fiction in Korea and Japan, will release selected titles and series from Aethon’s litRPG and progression fantasy series to Korean readers.
According to Aethon CEO Rhett Bruno, the agreement includes digital and print rights, though with a focus on digital rights that can be adapted to the web serial style, known as webnovels, that is popular in Korea. The first series, Reborn as a Demonic Tree, was released this week on the Korean platform Naver. Mark of the Fool is set to be released on Kakao in January. Other series set to be published next year include Hell Difficulty Tutorial and Return of the Runebound Professor.
"We are incredibly excited to introduce Korean readers to these phenomenal series from Aethon Books," said Robert Gagnon, CEO of Media Goat, in a statement. "The demand for high-quality LitRPG and fantasy fiction in Korea is thriving, and these titles represent some of the very best the genre has to offer.”
The agreement with Media Goat is the latest translation deal done by Aethon, with Bruno citing Germany and France has two important markets. Its foreign rights sales are handled by JABberwocky.
