BEA Announces New York Book Week Events
BEA officials have announced a series of events in support of New York Book Week, a celebration which embraces literary and book activity during the week of BEA beginning Monday, May 23. Notably, the Apple Store in Soho, at 103 Prince Street, will conduct a weeklong series of Meet the Author events in conjunction with NYBW.

Bloggers vs. BlogWorld
The BlogWorld & New Media Expo is on Tuesday, May 24, not Friday, May 27, as our report said. This is the first time for this event on the East Coast, and it is complimentary for BEA badge holders; May 24 is the day of the main conference, and the BlogWorld & New Media exhibits are May 25–26. On May 27 is the second annual Book Blogger Convention at BookExpo America, a one-day event providing instruction, interaction, and creative space for book bloggers and publishing industry professionals.

Children's Art Auction at BEA to Benefit Free Speech for Kids
When the Association of Booksellers for Children merged with the American Booksellers Association last year, an ABC Children’s Group was created within ABA to serve the interests of ABC members. That group is relaunching a children’s art auction and reception that formerly benefited the ABC, which will take place on the Wednesday evening of BookExpo America this year.

Riordan and Patterson to Appear at Lincoln Center During BEA
Rick Riordan and James Patterson will participate in a live event on May 25 at Lincoln Center in New York City. Billed as “An Evening with Rick Riordan and James Patterson, hosted by Al Roker," the event will take place on the Wednesday night of BookExpo America at Alice Tully Hall at 6:30 PM.

BEA Unveils Insight Stages
BookExpo America has announced that its new Insight Stages, formerly known as Author Stages, will provide authors with a speaking platform as well as the opportunity to interact with readers and booksellers. The Insight Stages will host a series of branded events called Signature Events that will be promoted in BEA materials as well as one the trade show's Web site.

Next month's BookExpo America will give children's booksellers a chance to see the newly merged Association of Booksellers for Children and the American Booksellers Association — or the ABC Children's Group at ABA as it is now known — in action.

BEA 2012 to Honor Russia in Global Market Forum
Russia will be the Guest of Honor at BookExpo Amercia’s Global Market Forum in 2012 in New York. Russia’s Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications, as well as Academia Rossica and Intelligent Television, are planning events focusing on Russian publishing aimed at both publishing professionals and the general public.

BlogWorld & New Media Expo Comes to BEA
The social media business conference BlogWorld & New Media Expo is expanding to two events this year, including a new East Coast event in New York City which will be co-located with BookExpo America May 24 to 26 at the Jacob K. Javits Center. BlogWorld & New Media Expo CEO and co-founder Rick Calvert said, "After a record-setting 40% attendance growth at our event in 2010, and due to a huge demand from bloggers and social media professionals from across the eastern United States and Canada, we decided it was time to launch our East Coast event this year."
