BEA 2013: Suchomel's Big Move to Perseus
Following his surprise departure as president of the Independent Publishers Group in March, Mark Suchomel is returning to the distribution business as head of a new unit that will be part of Perseus Book Group's Publishers Group West division. Legato Publishers Group will be based in Suchomel's hometown of Chicago and will look to build a client list of between 30 to 40 publishers over the next two to three years.

BEA 2013: IngramSpark Sparks
In an effort to streamline its print-on-demand offerings for small publishers, Ingram is launching IngramSpark, a program that will offer an inexpensive and easy-to-use platform for small publisher clients to distribute print and digital titles. IngramSpark, which is being announced at BEA and set to launch in July, is aimed at making the distributor's current systems easier to use.

BEA 2013: New Moves for BookWorks
PubMatch, the global rights organization that Publishers Weekly co-owns with Combined Book Exhibit, has forged a partnership with the self-publishing association BookWorks to launch a new BookWorks Web site. The new site, which is live today, is part of a BookWorks initiative designed to expand the benefits offered to BookWorks members.

BEA 2013: EFA's Outreach
The Editorial Freelancers Association just might be the book publishing industry’s most powerful secret weapon, when deadlines loom and staff resources are already stretched beyond reasonable limits. EFA, which was founded in 1970 and is a nonprofit organization primarily staffed by volunteers, provides a free searchable database of more than 2,000 experienced freelance professionals wanting to edit, proofread, index, and manage projects. Résumés and preferences are listed in member profiles. EFA also manages a free jobs listing service for publishers.
