Digital distributor INscribe Digital has reached an agreement with L.A. Theatre Works to distribute the nonprofit theatre group’s enhanced e-book content to an international marketplace. L.A. Theatre Works provides audio from its productions to complement the text content of original plays released as enhanced e-books.
L.A. Theatre Works is a 25 year old nonprofit media arts organization that works to present, preserve and disseminate classic and contemporary play. The L.A.-based organization has a compiled a catalog of audio recordings of such Hollywood and Broadway actors as Paul Giamatti, David Straithairn, Susan Sullivan, Jacqueline Bisset, Anne Heche and many others. These audio recordings will be used to enrich the e-book content of original plays by Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Eugene O’Neil and other acclaimed playwrights.
Susan Loewenberg, producing director at L.A. Theatre Works, said, “This is a way to marry our unique catalog of audio drama with the original manuscripts and offer them to the digital marketplace.
