Random House's Crown Publishing Group has inked a pact with political Web site RealClearPolitics.com to do a series of e-books about the 2012 presidential campaign. The partnership will yield three short e-book originals released throughout the campaign, as well as one full-length print book (that will also be relesed in digital), to be published after the election. Thomas Bevan, co-founder of the site, will be co-writing the titles with RealClearPolitics's Washington, DC, editor, Carl M. Cannon, and Crown's Sean Desmond will be editing.

The first e-book from the partnership, Election 2012: The Battle Begins, is scheduled for November 4, and will be priced at $4.99. Molly Stern, senior v-p and publisher of Crown, took world, audio and e-book rights in a deal she struck directly with Cannon and Bevan.
