Rick Richter, founder of new media kids' apps developer Ruckus Media and former president and publisher of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, has been named to the advisory board of INscribe Digital, a new digital distributor of e-books and provider of content conversion services. Anne Kubek, executive v-p and general manager of INscribe Digital, said “I’ve known Rick a long time. We wanted him on the board because he understands publishing and has now has great experience in the digital space through Ruckus Media. We’re excited to have him.” Before joining InScribe, Kubek was a long-time executive at Borders.

INscribe Digital was launched last year and focuses on digital distribution of e-books and short form digital content to vendors around the world through its ONE digital platform. Kubek said the service currently serves a variety of “small publishers and direct author clients and we’re in talks now with other publishers.”

INscribe offers publishers a proprietary distribution platform that allows them to directly upload their content to INscribe and gives them access to the INscribe Client Console. The Console, Kubek said, gives publishers access to live sales data by title as well as by retailer. “It’s great for publishers, who have always had problems getting access to this kind of data about their titles,” said Kubek.
