Recently, romance authors gathered to discuss a debut; an annual celebration for illustrators took place; an author headed out on tour; and an author dropped by a book party.


Ready for Romance

On November 10, Third Place Books welcomed Ali Hazelwood and several other romance authors for the release of Hazelwood’s YA debut Check & Mate (Putnam), about a former chess player who reenters the competition circuit and falls for her biggest competitor. Illustrators Unite

The 34th annual Children’s Illustration Celebration took place on November 12 at the R. Michelson Galleries in Northampton, Mass. Illustrators gathered to honor the legacy of children’s books. Reaching New Heights

Andy Griffiths recently hit the road to promote his new book, The 156-Story Treehouse: Holiday Havoc (Feiwel and Friends). While in St. Louis, Griffiths made several school visits in partnership with local bookstore The Novel Neighbor, including to Bellerive Elementary, pictured here. The latest installment of the Treehouse series follows Andy and Terry as they rush to prepare for holiday festivities.


A Book Party Is the Best Party

Matte Argyle in Los Angeles on November 11 welcomed young guests for an Afro Unicorn Book Party, held in partnership with children’s bookstore Books and Cookies. The series author April Showers made an appearance at the event. The Afro Unicorn series (Random House) follows a group of diverse unicorns as they head off on magical adventures.
