Recently, authors went on tour; launched picture books; gave a reading to get in the holiday spirit; and a school hosted an author visit for the first time since the pandemic.
A ‘Legend’ of a Tour
Last month, Tracy Deonn (l.) kicked off her seven-city tour with a launch event at concert venue Cat Cradle in Chapel Hill, N.C, in partnership with Flyleaf Books. More than 300 guests attended; Deonn appeared in conversation with a local bookseller, held a q&a, and closed the evening by signing books for attendees.
How We Launch a Picture Book
Nicole Chen (l.) held the launch event for her first picture book, How We Say I Love You (Knopf), at Linden Tree Books in Los Altos, Calif., on December 10. Chen spoke with fellow author Sana Rafi (r.), signed copies of her book, and led a drawing activity for guests.
In the Holiday Spirit
On December 11, author Matt Tavares visited Turning the Page Bookstore in Monroe, Conn., where he signed copies of his holiday picture books Dasher and a new edition of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas (both Candlewick).
Pandemic Patience Pays Off
Roslyn Elementary School in Abington, Pa., gave debut picture book author Angela H. Dale a warm welcome for the school’s first author visit since the pandemic. Dale gave a reading of her picture book Bus Stop, illustrated by Lala Watkins, (Cameron Kids) for students in kindergarten through second grade and held a q&a afterwards.
