This month, authors make many media appearances, including Trevor Noah’s The Daily Show; an author-illustrator showcases live drawing; and authors celebrate their debuts with launch events in New York City.

Ducks onThe Daily Show

Author Eliot Schrefer (l.) recently made several appearances in promotion of his latest book, Queer Ducks (and Other Animals): The Natural World of Animal Sexuality (HarperCollins/Tegen, May). Schrefer was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered on May 29, and on Queer Eye host Jonathan Van Ness’s podcast Getting Curious on June 1. Princess Portraits

Debut author and illustrator Sabina Hahn celebrated the publication of her picture book Pineapple Princess (Roaring Brook) with a launch event at Books of Wonder in Manhattan on the book’s publication day, May 31. The event included a reading from the author, an audience q&a, and a live drawing demonstration in which Hahn drew her titular character participating in all her favorite activities.

Authors Show Love

On May 24, author Claire Ahn (c.) attended a launch event for her debut YA novel I Guess I Live Here Now (Viking) at New York City’s Chinatown indie bookstore Yu & Me Books. The event began with a conversation between Ahn and bookstore owner Lucy Yu and was followed by a q&a. Pictured here, authors Maurene Goo (l.) and Kat Cho (r.) joined Ahn at the event.

Celebrating with Pride

Author Brian D. Kennedy kicked off the publication of his debut YA book A Little Bit Country (Balzer + Bray) with a launch at the LGBT Center in NYC’s Greenwich Village on May 24. Kennedy held a conversation with author Katie Henry where the two discussed family, friendship, and queer love in their novels.
