Take a Breath
In conjunction with her initiative HoldOn2Hope Project, which aims to unite creatives in mental health awareness, advocacy, and suicide prevention, debut author Rocky Callen (A Breath Too Late, Holt) sponsored her first art exhibition at OCA Mocha in Arbutus, Md. Co-curated with Liam Garret, artist and arts coordinator at OCA Mocha, “You’re Not Alone” features 23 pieces by 16 creators, on display from May 3–June 13. In collaboration with OCA Mocha, a short film project is being produced about Callen’s YA novel, mission, and exhibit.

Co-presented by Shelf Stuff and Chicagoland bookseller Anderson’s Bookshop, OMG BookFest virtually presented authors (pictured clockwise from top c.) Alan Gratz (Ground Zero, Scholastic Press), Ellen Oh (Finding Junie Kim, HarperCollins), Liesl Shurtliff (Time Castaways, HarperCollins/Tegen), and Ann Clare LeZotte (Show Me a Sign, Scholastic Press) for Step into the Past: Historical Fiction Panel on May 14. Jennye Kamin served as ASL interpreter, and guests were able to purchase books through Anderson’s.
