As part of a new agreement, MackinVIA, the free digital content management system from educational materials and services provider Mackin, will exclusively distribute LibraryPass’s ComicsPlus, a collection of more than 20,000 digital comics, graphic novels, and manga, in the primary and secondary school markets in the U.S. Students using MackinVIA will be able to access ComicsPlus materials purchased by their school or district 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for offline reading with unlimited simultaneous checkout.
“Mackin is the perfect partner to help LibraryPass deliver ComicsPlus to the school markets,” Ian Singer, CEO of LibraryPass, said in a statement. He praised Mackin’s stellar reputation in the preK–12 market, adding, “By offering a seamless integration pathway to ComicsPlus through the free MackinVIA platform, accessing our immersive content will be made even easier for librarians and students.”
Randal Heise, co-owner of Mackin Educational Resources, believes the partnership is a great fit. “Mackin has continued to support the high interest of graphic novels and digital comics in the classroom because of its rich value to students,” he said. “ComicsPlus’s extensive selection of graphic novels and comic based ebooks are not only popular with students of all ages, but they are extremely popular within today’s distance and blended learning and reading environments, where students may not have access to school libraries or print classroom collections.”
