  • Children's Sales Soar in the First Half of 2012, Says AAP

    For all of the industry handwringing, children's book sales remain strong, as the AAP StatShot for the first half of 2012 shows. According to the 21 publishers reporting, overall sales from January to June are up 40.7% over the same period last year.

  • Westchester Turns Out for Multicultural Children's Books

    On October 13, more than 20 authors and illustrators attended the Westchester Multicultural Children's Book Festival, held at the White Plains (N.Y.) Public Library. More than 500 children, parents, and educators crowded into the library to attend workshops and readings – which took place throughout the day at four concurrent venues – as well as visit with authors and illustrators for book signings.

  • A Pumpkin Goes to the Head of the Class

    Spookley, the star of The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano, illustrated by Susan Banta (Holiday Hill Farm; Barnes & Noble), is now in his second year as official spokes-pumpkin for National Bullying Prevention Month, sponsored by the Minneapolis-based family support organization PACER (Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights).
