Organize Your Business Like a Boss: An Entrepreneur’s Six-Step Process to Gaining More Time, Money, and Freedom

Jane Stoller. Bloomsbury Academic, $27.95 (240p) ISBN 978-1-5381-9925-1

Stoller (Decluttering for Dummies), the CEO of a nonalcoholic wine company, offers tips for entrepreneurs to become “as efficient and organized as possible” in this hit-or-miss guide. Gone are the days of hustle culture and waking up at 5 a.m., Stoller contends; to be successful, what business owners need is to spend 80 percent of their time “on revenue-generating tasks.” To do so effectively, the author recommends six steps and offers guidance for each. These include mastering time management, streamlining business processes, organizing finances, honing human resources, refining marketing, and sustaining systems. Stoller’s wide-ranging tips include notes on running one’s home and reading different kinds of financial statements, and her cheerleading helps keep things accessible for leaders at all stages of experience—“We all can choose to lead a stress-free life, starting now,” she writes. Unfortunately, some of her recommendations are not as broadly applicable as she intends them to be, including her tip to outsource household chores and her insistence that one can organize away feelings of anxiety. Still, new business owners looking to avoid common mistakes will find much to consider. (Sept.)
