Joy Prescriptions: How I Learned to Stop Chasing Perfection and Embrace Connection
Tiffany Moon. Legacy Lit, $28.99 (224p) ISBN 978-0-306-83453-0
Anesthesiologist and Real Housewives of Dallas cast member Moon debuts with a chatty and candid reflection on how she learned to live more intentionally. In her 30s, the author found herself “successful but disappointed, content but weary” as she stretched herself thin with parenting, working full time as a doctor, and generally trying to “fill the void inside” by pleasing everyone. She decided to go “off autopilot,” and focus on seeking out connection with other people and broadening her horizons (including by joining the Real Housewives of Dallas in 2019). From these experiences she draws such “joy prescriptions” as setting boundaries to better keep one’s priorities straight and prioritizing humor and laughter. Throughout, the author drops in fun behind-the-scenes anecdotes about her reality TV stint, while generally maintaining a down-to-earth tone as she discusses the challenges of casting off the rule-following “good girl” persona she’d grown up trying to fulfill. Real Housewives fans will find this worth their time. (May)
